|Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers have been linked with new Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard’s former Liverpool teammate Martin Skrtel.
Rangers have been dealt a blow in their (reported) pursuit of new Ibrox manager maxbet Steven Gerrard’s former Liverpool teammate Martin Skrtel.
According to The Daily Record, Rangers want to sign Skrtel from Fenerbahce in the summer transfer window, with the same publication also claiming that the Gers would have to pay around £5 million as transfer fee for the 33-year-old central defender.
However, the Slovakia international defender’s agent, Karol Csonto, has told The Daily Record that Rangers are unable to match the salary the former Liverpool star is getting at Fenerbahce, which is reported to be £60,000 per week.
While many Rangers fans will be disappointed with the latest development on the future of Skrtel, perhaps the Ibrox club have dodged a bullet.
After all, as reported by Turkish-Football last week, Fenerbahce were open to parting company with Skrtel for £4m.
This is not a good sign. After all, why would Fenerbahce be willing to sell Skrtel for £4m if he is such a good and important player?
Have the Turkish club maxbet realised that the Slovakia international is not good enough for them anyone?
After all, Skrtel made just 21 appearances in the league this past season, scoring there goals in the process, according to WhoScored.
Moreover, the former Liverpool star is now 33 years of age and is past his prime, and paying £60,000 per week to him would have been a massive gamble. maxbet
